January muses & the trend 9 year-old-me is excited about
It’s January 2023 and there’s nothing like a new year to make me want to do ALL THE THINGS, ALL AT ONCE. It’s one of many times through the year that I am in heavy inspiration mode- taking in all the beautiful interiors online, reviewing trends and setting goals for home and business.
Here’s a few things that are inspiring me right now:
Disco balls. The 70’s has always been MY decade, the clothes, the music, the celebs, the roller rinks- yeah baby, yeah. I’ve been on the hunt for a vintage disco ball for my house. Maybe 2023 is the year I find one!
Bold, artistic & unapologetic women and characters like designer Kelly Wearstler, actresses Florence Pugh and Ana De Armas
Bold, maximalist interiors. I tend toward a minimalist approach to design, but spaces like this inspire me to add more color, pattern and more fun!
Colorful winter accessories. There is nothing like a bright beanie, scarf or other winter basic to make a dreary day feel special.
My favorite bright green beanie is from H&M (old), I wore it everyday when we were staying at Wylder Hotel this November
Speaking of dreary days, this rainy weather in Northern California is making me pine for cool clear evenings outside. We have big plans for our front yard this year and I can’t wait to get started and show you the process!
Lastly, I never thought I would see the day, but silver is coming back in a big way in fashion and home! Yup, gold & brass and other warm metals aren’t going away, but silver- especially chrome- is IN.
When I was a kid, silver jewelry was the only cool thing to wear, and one day I took a quiz that said my skin tone was better suited to warm (read: ugly gold) accessories. Of course my 9 year old heart was broken. Now that I’m a little wiser and more confident in my style choices (pale skin be damned), I couldn’t be more excited to see a break in the warm metals and will gladly be welcoming some silver and chrome into my life in micro-doses.
The juxtoposition between this chrome light fixture, honed zellige tiles, and deep green velvet is dramatic & AMAZING!
